Essentials

When you first venture out on to the course you might feel a little intimidated, knowing what to do and how to behave in given situations can help alleviate your nervousness.  The clips below cover the basics, more will be added in the near future.

Be aware that many golfers, some who have been playing for many years, DO NOT behave correctly when they are out on the course.  When they began playing they were probably not taught correct procedures, so do not be concerned, the important thing is that you behave correctly and do not get into bad habits.

Classic examples of this include:

  • walking in front of another player before they have played their shot. Apart from being dangerous this is bad etiquette, is distracting and can put a player off making a good shot.
  • marking scorecards while still on the green, not good practice as there may be golfers waiting behind.
  • walking on the line of another players putt.
  • standing opposite a player while they putt, again very distracting.
